Albuquerque: A Bustling, Growing City

Albuquerque is the most populous city in the state of New Mexico and the 59th most populous city in the United States. With its population growing bigger each year, Albuquerque is also the fastest growing city in New Mexico. Situated in the central part of the state, New Mexico straddles the Rio Grande, which flows through the city from north to south. The Sandia Mountains run along the eastern side of the city. Some of the local museums, galleries, shops, and other points of interest include the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History, Museum of Natural History and Science, and Old Town Albuquerque. The city also has plenty of live music and performance venues such as Isleta Amphitheater, Tingley Coliseum, Sunshine Theater, and the KiMo Theater. Albuquerque prides itself on being the fittest city in the United States, according to a March 2007 issue of Men's Fitness magazine, making parks like Los Altos Park and Guadalupe Park well-sought after destinations.
